Content Quality Specialist

Position Summary Avantext, Inc. is a growing company that sells regulatory compliance software and digital technical publications for the aviation industry. We are currently seeking a Content Quality Specialist to review the content included in assigned products for completeness and conformity to style guidelines, with responsibility for ensuring that assigned product updates meet quality standards. Also executes User Acceptance Testing for new software releases. NOTE: This is not a software quality assurance position. Primary Responsibility Checking that content aggregated from various sources has been properly prepared for electronic publication and that product releases meet business requirements. Essential Functions (in order of importance) 1. Ensure updates are released on time and that the content meets editorial standards. 2. By executing a predefined test, verify that the final version of a product update meets standards for basic functionality. 3. Review and approve database content to ensure that it has been properly processed in conformance with style guidelines (correct tagging, metadata, hyperlinks, etc.). Perform final approval of content added to the database. Maintain data tables as assigned. 4. Execute and help author use cases and scripts for testing software functionality as assigned. 5. Capture data on errors found. 6. Assist in developing style guidelines. 7. Assist in documenting procedures and policies. 8. Perform content-management system or database audits or cleanup projects as directed. 9. Research content, policies, etc., as assigned. 10. Respond to requests for information about product content from other departments. 11. Other duties as assigned. Communications Requirements 1. Must prepare reports, process documentation, project plans as needed. 2. Must approve spelling, grammar and syntax in product content as needed. 3. Must document errors found and explain findings to the Production staff. Requirements Required: 1. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) 2. Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail. 3. Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a related field, or equivalent experience. 4. Ability to perform basic quantitative analysis of data. 5. Ability to work flexible hours as needed, especially to stay late to meet deadlines. Preferred: 1. Experience in digital publishing, preferably of technical documents. 2. Prior work with markup languages such as SGML or XML. 3. Some experience with statistical analysis. 4. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and PDF files. |
